Visualizing My Experience with Amal Academy
Amal Academy gave me the wings to move against the flow. My journey with Amal Academy was incredibly awesome. I never thought that soft skills are as important as hard skills before and never tried to master them. But after joining the Amal Academy as a fellow I came to know the importance and impact of soft skills in our professional as well as personal lives.
Since in first 2 weeks of fellowship, we learned about Amal’s Values and Principles so I chose the picture of Eagle to visualize my experience with Amal Academy because of its unique qualities that differentiate him from the other birds and also resonate with Amal’s Principle of Progress such as Amal, Khudi, Kam Kam Kam, and Ek or Ek Gayara. Below I explained that how the qualities of Eagle and Amal’s Principles resemble each other and how we can learn from them.
Amal & Eagle
An Eagle believes in amal/actions rather than finding lame excuses or waiting for the miracle. He is a fearless creature and never surrenders to his prey, no matter its strength or size. He always fights back to win his prey regardless of fear of failure. He does what he thinks. Same as the case in our lives most of the times we thought to do something big, to learn new skills, to land a better job but we did not take actions to make it happen in real life or sometimes we lose our motivation in the middle. So this was a great learning exposure about taking actions and let your actions teach you at the start of the fellowship. This idea gave me the motivation and energy to take action on things that I am planning to do for years.
Eagle & Khudi
According to science, an eagle has an extremely powerful vision. He knows that his place is not a cave that’s why he lives in mountains and does not build a nest for him. An eagle is well aware of his abilities and powers that Allah Almighty has blessed him such as moving against the stream, does not eat the corpse. Same as Amal academy taught us to know our powers and abilities in order to become the best version of ourself’s. Before this fellowship, I had no idea about my strengths and weaknesses even though I had no idea about which things make me happy or sad. But in the first week’s project, I learned and explored new things about myself through strengths and weakness writing activity, exploring your goals and reason behind your goals.
Eagle & Kam, Kam, Kam
An eagle always does Kam, Kam, Kam, and never bothered by difficulties. When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. According to research, it can live up to 70 years but at the age of 40 his flexible talons can no longer grab the prey, it’s beak becomes bent, feathers become old, think and heavy then he left with 2 options DIE or the painful process of change. Through the process of change, he knocks its beak against a rock until it plucks it out then talons and feathers, and waits until they grow again. After his eagle takes its famous flight of rebirth and lives 30 more years. Similar kind of thing we learned through Amal Academy that we should always keep motivated and working hard to reach our life goals. I personally inspired by this idea that Kam, Kam, Kam is the only way to achieve the highest of success and incorporated it into my life.
Ek or Ek Gayara
Even though eagles are known for their aggression, what is more, astonishing is their ability to nurture their young ones through the spirit of Ek or Ek Gayara. Similarly, Amal Academy taught us to be a helping hand for others. First I used to believe that in order to win someone has to lose but after this fellowship, I realized that there could be a win-win situation for everyone and I incorporated this thing in my life.
I hope to follow and incorporate all the learnings of Amal Academy in the future too!
